John Carmack thinks PS4 could be coming too soon

August 13th, 2009 No comments

According to Examiner.com:

It’s rare to read news where a new adaptation of a product is actually considered a premature move for evolving a brand, but that’s exactly what John Carmack thinks regarding the PlayStation 4.

In an interview with EuroGamer [via Blend Games] John Carmack openly discussed his views on the current trend in developing new consoles. He commented that…
“The whole jockeying for who’s going to release the first next gen console is very interesting and pretty divorced from the technical side of things,”… “Whether Sony wants to jump the gun to prevent the same sort of 360 lag from happening to them again seems likely. As developers, we would really like to see this generation stretch as long as possible. We’d like to see it be quite a few more years … Read the whole story on Playstation 4 Guru

No PS4 and Xbox 720 before 2013 and Wii HD coming in 2010

June 16th, 2009 No comments

According to analyst from Wedbush Morgan, Michael Pachter expects no new consoles: Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox 720 before 2013.  In 2010 we might see Nintendo’s new Wii HD which features higher definetion.

“We do not expect a “new” console in 2010 (other than the long-rumoured high definition Wii, which is likely to upgrade the Wii to current console technology),” he wrote in an industry newsletter.

“We do not expect the ‘next’ generation to begin before 2013, if at all,” he added.

“We remain convinced that the publishers will resist the introduction of any video game hardware technology that requires a refresh of software, as the publishers have as yet to capitalise on the immense investments made in being competitive in the current cycle.

Will PlayStation 4 Support 3D HDTVs

June 16th, 2009 No comments

phil_010909_ps43dgamingReleasing the PlayStation 4 with full-on 3D viewing capabilities would be a game-changing move, especially if the next Xbox and Nintendo systems don’t follow suit. As mentioned, it apparently sounds amazing, which is obviously a good thing for Sony fans. But it would also give the PS4 that same sort of nifty catch that has gotten so many people to buy a Wii. Wiggling joysticks around is nothing compared to seeing objects jump out of the screen.
