QuickJump QuickPeek 86: Bringing on the surprise and the stats that everybody knew about, but still were surprised about
GamesCom sure did not disappoint this week, although it did color our front page purple for the most part. No doubt about it, Sony ruled the spotlight this past week, and there’s even no point saying otherwise. Fanboy or not, plain fact is that Sony was responsible for probably 80 of the activity on the Internet this week.
That’s just how it is, one moment you’re busy trying to be as discreet as possible with your secrets (and failing sorely at it), and the next, you’re the big superstar with all the magnificent fireworks display heralding you as such. Others, meanwhile, bask in the relative shadow of the superstar, fiddling their thumbs and wishing it was their turn. But not in our blog, no sir! Here, everyone’s a star, and we try to treat them all the same, so you bet you can find other big news in QJ for the 86th week of QuickJump QuickPeek!
The week may have been dominated by PS3 news but that doesn’t mean the QJ PSP blog went without. We saw a lot of updates this week about upcoming releases for the Sony handheld, both from the West and from the East. Most notably, another new official PSP firmware version was spotted at the week’s big event, GamesCom 2009.

The PSP homebrew community definitely stepped things up this week, releasing a slew of useful apps and enjoyable games for the PlayStation Portable. Perhaps most impressive, someone has once again taken on the task of coding a Nintendo DS emulator that runs on a PSP. A PSP that plays DS games? Who’da thunk it?
